  • Fall, 242 RK: Mosvaseb defeated Clan Wulfas at The First Battle of the Eastern Plains, and pushed to Faestan.
  • Winter, Late 242 to Early 243 RK: Wulfas appealed to the rest of The Sómstrynd Clans to come to their aid. The Sómstrynd Clans held council to debate the war. [109]
  • Spring, 243 RK: Wulfas and Holnas hosts launched a combined attack and drove the Mosvaseb army back towards East Harath at The Second Battle of the Eastern Plains.
    • Clan Beran's host came down from the north and seized control over all of Faesholt, driving the northern portion of Mosvaseb's northern host south in The Battle of Faesholt. [110]
  • Summer, 243 RK: Thrûsheth reached out to their allies, The Dréorwineas. They agreed to come to their aid and marshalled a host over the course of the Summer.
  • Mid Autumn, 243 RK: The Mosvaseb hosts fell back to fortified positions along the southestern eaves of East Harath. The Holnas and Wulfas attack these fortified positions throughout the fall in a stalemate in The Third Battle of East Harath. [111]
  • Late Fall, 243 RK: The Dréorwineas host arrived and broke the siege of the Clan hosts and drove them out of Harath in The Fourth Battle of East Harath. The cavalry of the Dréorwineas secured the plains and drove the raiding parties and Holnas knights back towards Faestan and Vishevall in The Third Battle of the Eastern Plains.
  • Winter approached, 243 RK: Clan Holnas requested Clan Beran march to their aid, but the Helm declines to change his position, suggesting they sue for peace.
  • Winter, 243 RK: King Falos I of Anorthile gathers a small host in Anorthile and sails to Vaseb. [113]
  • Winter faded, 244: Mosvaseb and Dréorwineas hosts marched east towards Faestan against Clan Wulfas and Holnas. [114]
    • During The Battle of Faestan, Clan Wulfas captured Lord Thrûsheth. [115]
    • The Sómstrynd sued for peace with Anorthile and Mosvaseb in exchange for Thrûsheth, among other terms. Falos I complied and The Clans Wars ended. [116]

The Scúrende Incursion and The Dreorwineas Migration

  • Late Summer, 251 RK: Two Morbearn Travelers, Windfot and Ísfot were taken prisoner by Scúrmenn.[117]
    • The Scúrmenn kept Ísfot and sent Windfot to the Morbearn to demand a meeting to discuss the meaning of the trespassing on Scúrende Land and to negotiate the release of the Captive Traveler.[118]
  • Mid Autumn, 251 RK: Negotiations between the Scúrende Ealdan took place.[119]
  • Spring, 252 RK: The Morbearn launched a sudden attack.[120]
  • Summer, 252 RK: The Morbearn used surprise attacks and maneuverability that kept the Scúrmenn off balance and continued to score key victories. The time of the final confrontation (just east of the valley that shelters Scúrende's main settlement) the Scúrende companies were heavily reduced.[121]
  • 253-254 RK: The Dreorwineas migrated and the towns of Thingstów and Timbergeared fortified. [122]
    • Thrûsheth brokered a deal between the Dreorwineas and the Ealdan. [123]
  • Mid 254 RK: The Dreorwineas had migrated north and fully settled. [124]

The War Under the Trees

  • 262-267 RK: The Wóthboran (Forest Shades lead by Najiros) continue to expand their influence, bringing a number of Thevelnim tribes under their rule.[125]
  • Spring, 262 RK: While hunting along the southern river, a Sebairos hunting party rescue a young man who had been swept downstream by the swollen river and fast current.[126]
  • Summer, 232 RK: The rescued Thevelnam returns home, despite offers to remain with the Sebairos.[127]
  • Late Fall, 262 RK: A messenger came to the Sebairos from the Wóthboran.[128]
  • Spring, 263 RK: The Thalom Sebairos, resolved not to submit to the Wóthboran, begin gathering their strength. They also send out word to their Thevelnim allies. The messenger returns from the Wóthboran, but is chased off. By the end of Spring, small skirmishes broke in the central forest.
  • Fall, 263 RK: After months of skirmishes and small conflicts, a large Wóthboran force pushed past the southern patrols of the Sebairos, intent to cross the southern river and take the Sebairos capital.[129]
    • The Battle of the Fords: The Wóthboran prepared to cross the river, a small force of Sebairos emerged from cover on the opposite side to oppose their crossing.
  • 264 - Summer 265 RK: The victory at the fords gained the Sebairos considerably territory and dealt a harsh blow, but their lines were spread thin.[130]
  • Early Fall, 265 RK: After one and a half years of skirmishes, the Sebairos grew restless to conclude the war. [131]
    • Seeing that the force gathering is not far from the capital of the Wóthboran, the Sebairos gather nearly their full strength - both of their own people and their allies - and march quickly to meet them, intending to fall upon them unawares.
    • The riders of the Thalom Sebairos were first into battle, falling on the camp suddenly.[132]
    • The Wóthboran fought a retreating action, pulling the different divisions of the Sebairos further apart, stretching their forces thin.[133]
    • Believing victory was near, Wóthboran's forces pulled back and dwindled, the captain of the Sebairos committed all but the rear guard to the battle. [134]
    • The chaos in the Thevelnim ranks spreads throughout the whole force as the Chieftains - the most powerful Naji on the field - wreaked havoc.
      • The Captain of the Sebairos, seeing the battle has turned against him - lead the rearguard to break through the enemies encircling forces and freed up his force to retreat.[135]
    • Despite winning the field, the Sebairos' forces were greatly diminished. [136]
  • Winter 265: The Sebairos begin to lose allies among the Thevelnim.[137]
  • Spring - Summer 266: The Wóthboran raiding parties continued their pressure on the Sebairos.[138]
  • Late Fall, 266, The Second Battle of the Fords: The Sebairos forces, reduced and weakened, withdrew to the northern side of the fords.
    • The Wóthboran, remembering their first defeat, positioned a large force at the fords as if poised to cross.[139]
  • Winter 267 RK: The Thalom Sebairos begin preparations to evacuate their major settlements north to beyond the northern river.

Notes

This section contains footnotes for the Years of the Reunited Kingdoms section of the Timeline.

New Powers and The Vanguard's Rebirth

  1. Due to the cost of repairs throughout Anorthile, King Andorain II decides against fully rebuilding the Gates of Anorthile.
  2. With the najiros population beginning to grow again, many descendants of the original Vanguard remnants begin to contemplate rebuilding the order. The few surviving remnants, most of whom were mere students at the time of The War of Calamities, came together and laid plans to begin rebuilding The Vanguard.
  3. Being the only group of trained and practicing najiros in The Feralands, the Vanguard have little difficulty warding off most who would bother them. However, they also have a hard time befriending people in The Feralands because of the tainted reputation of magic after The War of Calamities.
  4. The Nesar Theni was of particular interest to The Vanguard, but it lied in the hotly contested territory surrounding Nandorthel.
  5. The Sómstrynd Clans were formed by four, older families of the old Lamniemalos Kingdom: Clan Holnas (the ruling clan), Clan Beran, Clan Hafecas and Clan Wulfas.
  6. The ruling Clan, Clan Holnas, takes Holenburg as their capital.

The Siege of Léomael and The War of the Mountains

  1. Three major decisions were decided:
    • With the Anointed Kingdoms growing much stronger, King Dithair encouraged that they begun attempting to rebuild The Feralands and restore The Anointed order in those lands.
    • It was decided that the Anointed Kings would set up a new state in each region to provide stability. This would include overthrowing some of the non-Anointed states (such as the petty rulers in Gorandel and the tyrant in Ironrend).
    • In terms of the Siege of Léomael, it was decided that they would aid the city in their war and bring them under their protection.
  2. House Westanwind protested Ácholt becoming the lord since he was a non-blood heir nor had he married into either house.
  3. House Westanwind took deep insult and the Windrae Alliance was essentially broken, with neither side willing to deal with the other.
  4. The winter of 64 RK was particularly harsh and caused great suffering among the besieged and besieging hosts alike.
  5. Upon hearing the news of The War of the Mountains, many living under the protection of Houses Éastanwind and Westanwind became concerned that The Sómstrynd Clans, having been denied eastward expansion, would seek to expand westward against the divided Houses.
  6. The Lord of Westanwind and Ácholt arrived at Fiscryne, accompanied each by a contingent of guards.
    • The Lord of Westanwind immediately questioned the validity of Ácholt’s lordship in Mundríce.
    • Ácholt responded to these harsh words in kind. The division in the town became more strident than The Elder supposed and the village’s people had divided into two groups supporting either side.
    • Tension continued to grow, and an altercation ensued between the villager groups and guards. History does not record who started the erruptive brawl.
    • Before The Elder stopped the physical violence, several villagers and guards on both sides are killed. The Lords were also wounded.
  7. House Gerénian's influence extended from the southern pass into Narthendar to the lake in Gorandel. Their eventual aim was to retake and rebuild Nandorthel and restore Gorandel.

The Strand and The Emerald War

  1. Aegis would become well-regards as both more noble and fair than the former Strand rulers. He intended to reform The Strand.
  2. Aegis had opposed many of his father’s deeds in life. This allowed the believability of the story to persist.
  3. Aegis maintained several contacts in Ironrend that continued to keep tabs on Skean's activity for him.
  4. Remnants of the brigands whom Aegis drove out continued to harass his people around the forest edge of Greyport to the east. Aegis also sought a land beyond the reach of Skean.
  5. Nandorthel, at the time, was ruled by an incompetent lord, one in a long string of petty rulers who had seized the city after The War of Calamities.
  6. Skean only accepted relunctantly, realizing he currently had no other options given the staggering evidence. Skean would begin to look for a way to bring about his brother’s fall.
  7. House Gerénian assumed Aegis to be in Skean’s service. House Gerénian feared they alone would not have the strength needed to take on The Strand alone.
  8. House Gerénian nobles claimed that they were descendants of an Anointed line, the daughters of the last King of Driesefair. They produced fictious proof in the form of royal heirlooms to give veracity to their claims.
    • In actuality, both daughters had vanished into the north when Ecretei, Driesefair’s capital, fell.
  9. The Thalom Sebairos, who had served the Anointed in Gorandel before The War of Calamities, were swayed to align themselves with House Gerénian. The Vanguard’s Master, however, were only swayed to render but small aid to them. King Dithair of Anorthile would also only send small aid to them, though The People’s Council and Nobles advise against even this.
  10. The delay of The Strand host puts the Greyport host on the defensive against and sallying Nandorthel host. Aegis was relieved in Early Autumn as Skean's host arrived.
  11. Several skirmishes between The Strand plus Greyport and House Gerénian ended in standoffs. Neither side could gain the advantage.
  12. With the northern river passages held by House Gerénian, Aegis and Skean had no way of attaining supplies. Realizing he is doomed, the ruler of Nandorthel bargained with Aegis and Skean: He would help them defeat House Gerénian (whom he knows will execute him) and in exchange, he would go free and Nandorthel would be given to Aegis. Realizing they could not sustain the siege without supplies, Skean and Aegis agree.
  13. The inability of Aegis's, Skean's and The ruler of Nandorthel's hosts to surround Ládnerung (despite multiple failed attempts to send some kind of messenger or raiding party west to circumvent the fort) rendered the siege’s attrition effects almost non-existent.
  14. On the day of the battle, the Greyport host was at the northern front nearest the fort, the Nandorthel host at the southern front (the rear guard), and between these two is The Strand host.
    • On the first day of Spring, the House Gerénian host sallied forth from the fort and attacked Aegis in the morning. Aegis began giving way before Skean could come to his aid.
    • Soon after Aegis was attacked, the Anorhtile host rode up on the rear and attacked the Nandorthel rear guard. Taken by surprise, the rear guard began to give way and Anorthile began to turn their flank.
    • Realizing the battle would almost certainly lost, and also that Aegis would be trapped, Skean broke out of the center to the west and fell back west towards the forest and Greyport, abandoning Aegis.
    • Aegis fought on for some time, but both his and the Nandorthel host were completely surrounded. Both hosts were slaughtered.
    • Skean retreated across the western plains and was harassed by the Thalom Sebairos, but his host was too large for them to assault directly. Once they heard the battle was won, the Sebairos withdraw back eastwards.
  1. Lord Ágan Gerénian was received in Nandorthel as a liberator by most of the people.
  2. Aegis and his main supporters were all dead. Skean feigned remorse for his brother’s fate, admitting Aegis was framed but directed the blame on a servant, whom was executed. Skean portrayed himself as having saved The Strand by preserving its armies, that he had to withdraw as Aegis had unintentionally drew the attention of The Anointed.

The Founding of Mosvaseb

  1. The newly ascended Lord of the House of House Éastanwind was particularly unpopular, being both a poor manager and a harsh ruler.
    • The feud between Westanwind and House Éastanwind in Narthendar had been going on for 47 years at this point. The feud had led to increased taxes, harder lives for most of the people and many lives lost from skirmishes and brief conflicts.
  2. With Nandorthel under the control of House Gerénian, King Dithair of Anorthile looked to the rest of The Feralands in hopes of continuing to reestablish order there. The city of Mundríce became his next goal.
    • King Dithair’s messengers’ reported not only the Lord of the House's rudeness, but also of the pitiful conditions and growing oppression in Mundríce. This spurred Dithair to consider conquest and the establishment of a new state there. Rumors of possible Mountain Clan activity fueled his belief that such an invasion was necessary.
  3. post-Renewal Diasair is the first Diasair to appear in Althas since The Renewall.
  4. The oppressed people of in and near Mundríce welcomed Anorthile rule, while House Westanwind in Múthrand was outraged by the foreign rule in the lands that their kin (though estranged) had ruled.
  5. King Dithair's abilities as an Anointed astonish the people of the city.
  6. Other changes that occurred included Anorthile bringing the elders of the various villages together to form a simplified version of the People's Council that the Anointed Kingdoms saw.
    • Falar, the commander of the Nosmalos Expeditionary host, was made the first Lord of Mosvaseb and reigned from Vaseb. His cousin, Shevoseb, governed Múthrand. The rule of Lord Falar was fair and there was much rebuilding in the area around Vaseb and Múthrand, with repairs to the damage the feud had caused. Much trade between Vaseb and Anorthile (through Nandorthel) occured, as well as between Múthrand and Vishethas.

Unrest in The Feralands

  1. While Skean had been able to bolster his rule through fear, lies and propaganda, his son, Bodkin, was less effective at this. Even during Skean’s rule there was a growing resistance. Even so, this resistance was not yet strong enough to overthrow Bodkin, but was greatly encouraged by Anorthile’s intervention in The Emerald War and the formation of Mosvaseb.
  2. Vasomi are elite warriors and helped train some of the Ironrend rebels. This will be the first of several instances to come when Vishethas manipulates the Temple to forward its ends.
  3. At this time, The Anointed were not aware of Greyport’s location.
  4. The bloodines of the leader of the resistance's rise to power was a taint on his rule. Also, the image of the Vasomi and the Temple were also a taint upon his rule as well.
  5. The Esheliros Shûvrall had been plagued by division between those trying to maintain order and those under aiding and abetting pirates and brigands. Vishethas assisted (with their Vasomi) the local council of the law-abiding island put down the brigands. Again, Vishethas used the Vasomi to assert their authority.
  6. Ábrecan was a less impressive of a ruler than his father Ágan. Also, his father’s attempts to rebuild the area around Nandorthel were not as successful as he had hoped and the taxes used to fuel it caused tension and impatience to build in the population of Nandorthel. Ábrecan's reign went over poorly, and tensions in Nandorthel would continue to rise over the years.
  7. Bodkin had his spies watching and looking for ways to damage The Anointed's influence in The Feralands.
  8. The reputation of The Anointed was severely tarnished at this time, as they helped facilitate House Gerénian's rise.
  9. The group that splinters from House Gerénian goes on to rule the lands northeast of Nandorthel.

Nandorthel Falls and Grimvale Rises

  1. Bodkin and Ranseur were partially responsible in helping to form the Dréorwineas, as they worked to keep up tensions in Nandorthel. More information concerning the tyranny with which Ábrecan asserted his rule also came into light.
  2. In particular, Ábrecan asked for Dréorwine to set aside the feud and help preserve what had been accomplished in Nandorthel.
  3. The division between Ábrecan's Loyalists and the Dréorwineas in House Gerénian is permanently established.
  4. Many in the region join Ábrecan, refusing to recognize Ranseur as the Lord of Nandorthel. However, due to Ábrecan's stained reputation, many others are also resistant to his rule.
  5. Bodkin realized the danger of House Gerénian reuniting and attacking Nandorthel from two fronts. Ábrecan's following is larger, so Bodkin decider to focus his efforts on dislodging them from their position south of Nandorthel.
  6. Ábrecan realized he could no longer continue the fight against Ranseur.
    • The Anorthile people, in particular the nobles, are deeply offended by House Gerénian's past lies. The People's Council and other groups protest the offer of asylum to the Gerénians.
  7. Vithile had always been a tenuously held region and was essentially unpopulated at that time.
  8. The Dréorwineas realized they could not fight Bodkin's hosts in Nandorthel.
  9. Trade and reliable communications between Mosvaseb and Grimvale had been severely impaired when Ranseur became Lord of Grimvale, as they were hostile towards Anorthile. The rebuilding of The Long Road occured in order to allow trade caravans to circumvent the hostile city.
  10. Work on The Long Road was long and expensive. The road workers had to be guarded and escorted. Anorthile lost many men in skirmishes. The People’s Council increasingly disapproved of Anorthile’s involvement in The Feralands.

The Hali Beadre and The Joldeseb Usurption

  1. Most of the ship's crew were already dead. They were brought back to a Thalom Sebairos camp. The survivors were very ill and claimed to be from a land called Dritameshi.
  2. They leave behind those who are already sick and migrate west.

  3. The Sebairos left behind those who were already sick and migrated west. The plague continued to spread in eastern Gorandel.
  4. The Sebairos came to believe this plague to be a curse or judgment from Driomi for supporting the false Gerénian kings. This belief would continue to spread as a rumor among those they met on their travels.
    • The beliefs held among the Sebairos would continue to distort over time.
  5. In Narthendar, the plague affected Mosvaseb and the land of the Dréorwineas first; it spread slowly due to the sparsity of low population between villages.
  6. The plague struck Anorthile later that same year. It spread quickly in the densely populated heartland.
    • Thavairos and Eänos were hit hardest due to the prolific trade between the two cities.
    • Sheäjathi was not hit as hard due to drawing most of its trade from the southern vales.
    • Vellevri took the lightest blow due to having little trade outside the valley. After the plague spread, travel to the city of Vellevri was discouraged by the persistence of the disease in the Thavairos region.
  7. With the Hali Beadre also came rumors from the Thalom Sebairos that the plague was a divine judgment. Given recent scandals, this belief was taken up by many in Anorthile.
    • The rumors of Dritameshi had also reached them, but they were largely dismissed as a myth.
  8. Léomael was spared as trade with Nosmalos had essentially stopped with the arrival of the plague in their homeland.
  9. The newfound belief in Driomi's judgement upon The Anointed, along with the previous conflicts in The Feralands, severely marred King Dithair's reputation.
  10. The Anointed realms fell into a state of internal upheaval. Dithair and the other Kings’ reputations had been marred by the scandal with House Gerénian and the poorly handled overthrow of the Strand.
    • The Academies and Temples became divided over beliefs concerning the Hali Beadre. Some believed it was divine judgment, others did not.
    • The Vasomi’s conduct in Vishethas caused division within The Vasomi’s ranks abroad. The more traditional groups in Anorthile no longer believed they should have been involved in the political ambitions of the Kings in The Feralands.
  11. Lafethair was married to Etallethor, the head of House Joldeseb.
  12. Shefeth's and Lafethair's parents were both dead at the time, and their caretakers lost. The elder twin was actually Shefeth, but House Joldeseb pressured Lafethair to challenge his claim, which made the supplement of proof the deciding factor.
  13. Shefeth relented his protests once he learned that his sister was being viciously manipulated: the real power on the throne was Etallethor and House Joldeseb. He then began to cause increasing problems for House Joldeseb.
  14. The Drithrûi were a group made up of high ranking officials (including the Head of The Temple, Captains of the Vasomi and various Nobles and members of the People’s Council) who had been supporters of The Anointed.
  15. House Joldeseb claimed that Shefeth wanted to usurp the throne and send Anorthile back into the chaotic wars of The Feralands. Certain members of Anorthile's Temple and Academy backed Etallethor (especially those who believed the Hali Beadre was divine judgment).
  16. The Drithrûi began seeking for ways to expose King Etallethor and House Joldeseb.
    • King Etallethor and House Joldeseb now secured a fairly stable reign for the next few years, though there was uneasiness with Shefeth’s sudden death. Etallethor immediately begam withdrawing all support from The Feralands, abandoned Mosvaseb, The Strand, and Haefen. Many in The Temple felt this went against the mission of The Anointed to try and restore Althas, but they remained silent for fear of the people and House Joldeseb.
  17. The Merchant Nobles of Nosmalos had many illegal business arrangements in The Feralands. Etallethor also agreed to turn a blind eye to the corrupt business and crime in Sheäjathi.

The Vellevri Council and The War of Attainment

  1. The three Vasomi Masters fell into disagreement:
  2. Zomar and Anorthile’s Vasomi sided with Queen Lafethair and formed close ties with Gelifin and The Vasomi of Vishethas.
    • Doleb and The Vasomi of Nosmalos broke off most relations with the other two and continued to oppose the ruling body of Nosmalos who wanted to withdraw from The Feralands. However, despite their stance, corruption continued to grow in Nosmalos.
  3. Drithrûi spies and messengers continued to gather support throughout Anorthile (particularly in the northern regions).
  4. While in Vellevri, Lossifeäl brought many people to Thrûdre’s side.
    • Lossifeäl opposed almost all of Etallethor’s stances concerning The Feralands, which contradicted the principle teachings of the Temple and Academy.
  1. The Vasomi found Etallethor's son to be a more moral and upright individual then his father.
  2. As Thrûdre was called "the Valiant," he took the name Falos (“Valiant Lord” in Noralar). This begun the reign of King Falos I of Anorthile, who took the throne at the age of twenty.

The Restoration of Anorthile

  1. Several members of House Joldeseb vanished into hiding, and others could not be proven to have been in the conspiracy. Thus House Joldeseb persists as a house in Anorthile.
  2. Falos I found pity on Lafethair, knowing she had been coerced, but the people could not be assuaged.
    • Her lack of action against Etallethor could not be denied.
    • Realizing there was no other way, Falos I was forced to exile Lafethair from Anorthile. She traveled north with a small contingent of loyal servants. She vanished into the population of The Feralands.
  3. The message was from Oldest Son of the King, the disowned son of King of Nosmalos, and the underground Vasomi in Nosmalos. Since Oldest Son of the King's father disowned him, he had dodged multiple assassination attempts and had gone into hiding along with Nosmalos's Vasomi and their families.
      • He informed Falos I of the Merchant Nobles' actions against the Vasomi and their work with House Joldeseb.
  4. The Basech settlement continued to grow and docks were constructed. Ships were patrolling between the Esheliros Basech and the southern Anorthile port of Sheäjathi.
    • After about a year of discussions, it became apparent to the Basech settlement that the indigenous people of the Esheliros Basech had some knowledge of Anorthile from their history, though the information at the time was scant.
    • The Basech settlement became stable over the next year.
  5. At the meeting, Falos I, now having full control over the southern trade route, threatened King of Nosmalos both with an embargo and with a meeting of the Anointed Council to call for King of Nosmalos's abdication. However, Falos I would keep the information to himself if King of Nosmalos and the Merchant Nobles would reveal all the plans and schemes that they aided House Joldeseb in.
    • Realizing he had no choice, King of Nosmalos agreed. He called a meeting with the chief Nobles and ordered their assistance. Realizing they also had no choice, they agree.
  1. All of House Joldeseb's chief members were found and apprehended, along with many of the other members. The heads of the House were executed and many of the other members imprisoned. House Joldeseb itself was stripped of lands, titles, and prestige. Many remaining members changed their names or went into hiding.
  2. This collaboration fostered tighter relations between Vrathiro and Haefen.
  3. At the time, Anorthile was still repairing the damage done by The War of Attainment and re-establishing relations and trade with Mosvaseb. Falos recognized, especially after the wyvern attacks, he lacked the support and military power to properly protect Haefen.
  4. With the protection provided from Anorthile gone, the Lord of Haefen sought to create a new arrangement between Haefen and Vrathiro. Each ruler recognized the need for the other: Vrathiro has a strong navy and Haefan a strong land garrison, and each controlled one of the two entrances into Vithile Bay.

The Bavem Rebellion and The Establishment of Fréoríce

  1. As Falos I had Anorthile on the road to recovery and his claims asserted, he turned his attention to his allies in hiding in Nosmalos. He ws aware that he had also made a lasting enemy in the King of Nosmalos and the Nosmalos Nobles. Thus, he sought to lessen their threat to Anorthile.
    • Falos I turned his eye to the Esheliros Bavem, Nosmalos’s southernmost claim and the command outpost for their southernmost fleet.
    • Falos turned to the Vasomi to aid him in his plans. He hoped to both save the disowned son of the King of Nosmalos and the Vasomi in hiding.
    • At the time, the Esheliros Bavem was ruled by five lords, the lowest two of which were sympathetic to the plight of the Vasomi as well as the people of the Esheliros Bavem (who toiled excessively and were taxed, but had no voice in the People’s Council or the rights of a true citizen of Nosmalos). The three higher lords were Merchant Nobles who were involved in many of the dark dealings of the War of Attainment.
  2. The Oldest son of King of Nosmalos was outraged by the oppression taking place under the Merchant Nobles on the Esheliros Bavem.
  3. Falos I was reluctant to directly involve Anorthile in the rebellion.
  4. One band of Vasomi, hidden within, attack the capital city docks and seize most of the ships.
  5. They wanted to destroy The Oldest son of King of Nosmalos and his men in order to break the rebels’ spirits. They outnumbered The Oldest son of King of Nosmalos greatly, but were unaware of the najiros in his ranks.
  6. The sudden appearance of magic, which the Merchant Nobles were ill prepared for, causes their hosts to panic.
  7. Fighting on the other Bavem islands continued sporadically throughout the season.
  8. This victory occurred due in part to the assistance of the najiros and the highly skilled Vasomi, as well as the ingenious command of the The Oldest son of King of Nosmalos and the two lords.
  9. King of Nosmalos realized that he could not afford to fight a war with Anorthile and Fréoríce.

The Ironrend Rebellion and The Forsaken Strand

  1. King Opulus of Vishethas had been continuing the trend of increasing heavy taxation on Vishethas’s vassals, including The Strand. This lead to growing discontent among the people.
  2. The riots in Ironrend occurred due to discontent with the sentence. Groups of discontent gathered for a potential uprising, but they lack the strength to overthrow governor alone.
  3. "The Strand" would become known as to "The Forsaken Stand", and the people of Ironrend esteemed their new lord, rebel leader, as a hero and his reputation secured his rule.
  4. King Opulus halted the fleet from sailing to Greyport due to troubles in the Esheliros Shûvrall as well as the growing unruliness of The Feralands in general having caused public opinion of Vishethas’s activities outside the homeland to drop sharply.

The Léomael Usurption and The Lineage of Thrûsheth

  1. Since the start of The Years of the Renewed Kingdoms, House Sólstán was the primary ruling house of Léomael. THey had tried to rule fairly and protect the city, but by 200 RK had run into problems:
    • Nosmalos had been slowly reducing trade and support to the city as they begin to withdraw from The Feralands.
    • The reduction of income had undercut their attempts to revitalize the outskirts of the city which had been devastated by wars and were home to many of Léomael’s poor and underprivileged.
    • In order to attempt to maintain the city’s defence and still properly support the outskirts, taxes had been increasing.
    • People within the city walls had become increasingly angry with House Sólstán's rule, with taxes continuing to be a growing burden. Many within the walls saw supporting those on the outskirts beyond the walls to be a waste of money and a needless burden.
    • promising to bring back the more comfortable times from before House Sólstán began burdening the city with the poor and (according to them) driving off Nosmalos’s trade.
    • House Eolhsand, a rival of House Sólstán (and an ally of The Sómstrynd Clans), promised to bring back the more comfortable times from before House Sólstán began burdening Léomael with the poor and (according to them) driving off Nosmalos’s trade.
  2. This caused support to swing sharply to House Eolhsand, who rose to power in Léomael that same year.
  3. Nosmalos helped House Eolhsand in exchange for Nosmalos having trade access with The Sómstrynd Clans.
  4. House Eolhsand claimed that the large numbers of missing peasants was either due to them dying, leaving, or joining the city in its prosperity within the walls. In actuality, Eolhsand allowed The Sómstrynd Clans to capture peasants as slaves to work in their mines.
  5. The King of Léomael is a title no one had taken since The War of Calamities. His rule and claims were enforced by mercenaries and supported by his Sómstrynd allies.
  6. From Eldring, House Sólstán had sent out ships in secret to Múthrand, a city in alliance with Mosvaseb. * With the support of Clan Beorca, Clan Hraefna and Clan Ífiga, and the trade from Múthrand, House Sólstán established Edring as a refuge for those who resisted The Sómstrynd Clans and House Eolhsand.
  7. Upon their meeting, King Falos I recognized a memento Thrûsheth carried as having belonged to Lafethair. Upon inquiring where he received this, Thrûsheth told him that it belonged to his grandmother, who came from The Feralands.
    • Falos I realized that Thrûsheth was his kin, a descendant of Lafethair. However, because of Lafethair and Etallethor’s tainted reputation in Anorthile, Falos kept Thrûsheth’s family history a secret from everyone (including Thrûsheth himself).

The Clan War

  1. The first battle of the War was fought between the cavalry forces of Mosvaseb and a gathering of Clan Wulfas raiders in East Harath. Mosvaseb won an easy victory and it appeared that the War would be over quickly.
  2. Mosvaseb scored several swift victories against Clan Wulfas. They pushed against them north, east, and southeast of East Harath. Counter attacks held them up in Late Fall, but near the onset of Winter, the host of Mosvaseb defeated a sizable Wulfas host. The winter set in quickly and bitterly. Engagements were limited to light skirmishing during the Winter.
  3. Due to the nature of the conflict (Wulfas instigated it with excessive raiding), Clan Holnas did not try to assert its authority to compel the other clans to fight. Each clan was allowed to make their own decision.
  4. The Clan Beran host halted there, securing the northern front against any possible Mosvaseb counter attacks.
  5. Clan Wulfas and Holnas also engaged in several skirmishes in the forest itself, in the hills and to the plains to the south.
  6. Mosvaseb had gathered their strength for a final push to take Faestan.
    • The Ealdan refused due to Anorthile's disruption of Narthendar traditions.
    • Bordrima also refused because they feared they would draw the ire of Clan Beran, whose forces were nearby.
  7. Clan Wulfas and Holnas took council to decide how to proceed. They knew Mosvaseb, backed by Anorthile, would not be kind at the negotiation table. Faestan would almost certainly be demanded. The Helm of Holnas at first considered such terms as just desserts for Wulfas, but the Helm of Wulfas proposed a different plan.
  8. The main Mosvaseb Host, Thrûsheth's Host, met the largest host of Clan Holnas and Wulfas not far from Faestan. The battle was at first fierce, but the Holnas and Wulfas host broke and routed. Emboldened, the bulk of the Dréorwineas and other Mosvaseb hosts pursued them far ahead of Thrûsheth's Host.
    • Seeing victory was at hand, Thrûsheth ordered his reserves into battle. However, as they approached, the large Wulfas and Holnas host turned and stood firm with reinforcements from Faestan. Meanwhile, a host of Wulfas's Elite Warriors descended from the north (having used the ancient tunnels that stretched under Vishevall and its foothills to circumvent Mosvaseb's scouts}.
      • Vishevall was fortified all along both sides in The War of Kings. Most were damaged or partially gone, but many remained at least traversable. The tunnels were for maneuvering hosts among the many fortifications.
  9. Clan Wulfas descend on Thrûsheth's Camp quickly and overwhelmed his guard, taking him prisoner (although at great cost). The guards pursued, but they were held back at the tunnels long enough for the Wulfas Host to escape.
    • As word spread that the Lord of Mosvaseb was captured, the hosts of Mosvaseb and Dréorwineas broke off in a disorderly and costly retreat.
  10. The Sómstrynd demanded that Wulfas's acts of war be forgiven entirely and not pursued again by Anorthile or Mosvaseb, and that The Sómstrynd did not need to release any prisoners or slaves taken prior to the War. In exchange, Thrûsheth and the prisoners of war still healthy would be returned.
    • The Ealdan of the Narthendar settlements strongly protested such terms, saying they should be forced to pay reparations for the damage done before the War and release all prisoners and slaves taken in that time.
    • When Falos I realized that Lord Thrûsheth had been taken prisoner, he immediately acquiesced for fear of Thrûsheth's life.
      • This greatly upset the people, creating long-lasting tension between the region of Narthendar with Anorthile as they perceived this as favoritism towards Anorthi and their rulers and agents vs the Narthendan population.
      • Thrûsheth's reputation was also diminished among the people and he began encountering many struggles working with the Ealdan.
    • Within The Sómstrynd, Wulfas was forced to pay tribute to Holnas for twenty years and was compelled to surrender all slaves taken in their activities leading to the War to Holnas. Beran and Hafecas are ill regarded by the Holnas for their resistance to directly fighting in The Clan War.

The Scúrende Incursion and The Dreorwineas Migration

  1. Windfot and Ísfot undertook an ancient traditional journey of religious significance to the Morbearn.
    • The Scúrmenn had only recently pushed further East. They had been at odds with the Morbearn for some time, prompting the Scúrmenn to tightly patrol their declared borders.
    • The Travelers were presumed spies. The Three Scúrende Ealdan didn't believe their pilgrimage story.
  2. The Morbearn considered this an insult to their traditions. They agreed to the negotiations. Secretly, however, they brought a war party in an attempt to rescue Windfot while the guards were distracted during the meeting.
  3. There was division among the Scúrende Ealdan, with one believing that the Morbearn are plotting war and the prisoner should not be released under any circumstance while the other is much more lenient. The third is undecided.
  4. After careful scouting of the border, the Morbearn overran their easternmost encampment and attacked a small settlement in Scúrende's eastern territory. When Scúrende's northern forces moved to reinforce the town, they were ambushed along the way and scattered. The loss of their eastern and northern encampments threw the Scúrende forces into disarray.
    • After the battle, the Scúrmenn agreed to release the prisoner.
      • The lenient Ealdan secretly poisoned the prisoner as an act of revenge.
      • He died some days after he is returned to the Morbearn. The Morbearn believed his death was unnatural and caused by Scúrmenn but the Ealdan of Scúrende denied the allegation entirely.
      • After this, their attempts to reach out to Morbearn were met with only silence.
  5. The companies of Scúrmenn inflicted heavy casualties in that final battle, the personal guards of the Ealdan in particular forced the Morbearn to pay dearly for their gains. Though the Scúrmenn were forced to retreat, the Morbearn losses put an end to their advance. However, the Scúrmenn were also depleted and could not reclaim their lost lands.
  6. Their populations were smaller and their warriors were less skilled. Without Scurende to the north, they were vulnerable to invasion by the Morbearn. They reached out to Mosvaseb for protection.
  7. Their forces were too depleted to effectively secure their holdings in the Gap.
    • The Dreorwineas migrated north and settled at Thingstów.
    • The Ealdan and the Lord of the Dreorwineas shared authority over the city, with the soldiers of the Dreorwineas being charged with the protection of the region and all the towns within their influence.
    • The Dreorwineas agreed, their strength still being more than enough to match the Morbearn.
  8. Dreorwineas numbers swelled the settlements, especially Thingstów, which they had set about fortifying.

The War Under the Trees

  1. They viewed these Thevelnim (tribal peoples of the forest) as an inferior people, demanded tribute in exchange for protection and forced their religious beliefs on them.
    • The expansionism of the Wóthboran and murmurs about their beliefs and conduct left the Thalom Sebairos concerned.
    • Tensions mounted as their reach encroached on lands claimed by the Sebairos.
  2. The Sebairos hunting party took him back to their camp to nurse him back to health and there near he is a Thevelnam of one of the villages under the Wóthboran's rule.
    • While at the Sebairos camp, the Thevelnam sees the way in which the Sebairos treat their Thevelnam allies and neighbors as equals.
    • He also learns of their more traditional religious beliefs.
    • During this time, the Thalom Sebairos also learned of the Wóthboran's ways.
    • They learned of the tribute and mistreatment of the Thevelnim and how the Wóthboran viewed themselves as superior.
    • They also learned of their religious beliefs and worship of magic, which greatly disturbed the Sebairos.
  3. He brings with him some of the teachings of the Sebairos.
    • He spreads their beliefs and to questioned the Chieftains the Wóthboran.
    • The Sebairos took council and determined how to answer a possible Wóthboran threat.
  4. The Wóthboran were furious with the Sebairos for sharing their "heretical" beliefs and corrupting the Thevelnam against his true leaders.
    • They informed them that the young man and his village was to be punished harshly.
    • Because of the danger the Sebairos present - demonstrated fully by the destruction of this village - the Wóthboran gave the Sebairos until the following Spring to agree to submit to Wóthboran rule.
  5. The Wóthboran were confident as the Sebairos they encountered offer little resistance.
    • However, the routing of the patrols was a ruse to lure the Wóthboran to the fords of the river, where the main force of the Sebairos were waiting
  6. Their progress was halted. Little progress was made beyond small gains and losses through skirmishes for 2 and a half years.
    • During this time, confidence in the Wóthboran weakened among the Thevelnim that they once ruled. A growing number defected to the Sebairos.
  7. However, the Wóthboran accepted no messages. Their soldiers also used their magic based abilities to evade pursuit and struck with exceptional coordination.
    • In the early Fall, the Sebairos learned from Thevelnim spies that a large force southwest of the Sebairos' furthest holdings had gathered.
  8. They are surprised to find the forces of the camp were armed and prepared to fight then an intense melee ensued.
    • The Wóthboran seemed to break when the Thevelnim forces and infantry arrived behind them.
    • Rather than route, the Wóthboran broke into several groups and began to spread out, taking up different positions.
    • With them were naji and archers who harassed the Sebairos from a distance.
    • The Sebairos forces moved to attack, spreading out in many directions.
  9. A second force, equal in size to the first, lead by the Chieftains moved quietly and swiftly in the shadows of the woods then slowly surrounded the Sebairos.
  10. As they moved into the battle, the Wóthboran forces concealed around them emerged from all sides.
    • The strongest Naji were committed to reinforce the original lines, their attacks overwhelming the protections wielded by the Sebairos.
    • The Chieftains came in on the flank. Before them they cast the illusory images of the Seven Jevrethor, believed by their people and those they rule to be the actual souls of the founders of the Wóthboran people.
    • The Thevelnim forces who had been under the Wóthboran before the war are thrown into a panic.
    • Some turned on the Sebairos, some fled, others begged for mercy or took their own lives.
  11. The ensuing battle was bloody and chaotic, costing both sides dearly but the Sebairos more. However, the Wóthboran gave back and retreated.
  12. It was learned that the Thevelnim who had given them their information was a spy, sent to lure the Sebairos into the trap.
    • Realizing that this meant more forces remained in hiding (and realized the Wóthboran's skill for moving in secret far exceeded what they believed), the Captain ordered a swift retreat.
Their diminished numbers meant they can no longer defend the borders they established after the Battle of the Fords which forced them to give up much of their gains from that battle.
  13. Some groups abandon Vossôthos, migrated east.
    • Some refused to fight, withdrew from the conflict and others defected back to the Wóthboran.
    • The Sebairos were forced to give back more and more against the raiding parties of the Wóthboran.
  14. In late Summer, the Wóthboran sent three sizable forces to attack them from three different points.
    • When they moved silently among the trees, they were not seen until they were nearly on top of the patrols.
    • The ensuing battles went poorly for the Sebairos and they were pushed back towards the river.
  15. The Sebairos, fearing their line might be overrun, sent substantial reinforcements. However, the Wóthboran secretly sent two small forces of elite Naji across the river by a small boat further east and west of the fords.
    • Three days after the original Wóthboran had made camp at the fords, the Naji descended on the Sebairos camp at night.
      • The camp was thrown into panic, but the Sebairos Naji responded quickly and managed to fend off the Wóthboran long enough for the Sebairos to organize an orderly withdrawal, though this costed them nearly half the Naji present. However, by the time the Sebairos had organized for a full counterattack, the Wóthboran forces had crossed and established a foothold on the north side of the river. Seeing the ford was lost, the Sebairos withdrew north towards their capital.
