This is a detailed account of the events that have taken place within Althas before recorded time.

This is Part 1 in the Timeline series of articles, and continues into Part 2.

Before recorded time

This period came before Man had numbered his days, so no dates in this period are certain. What is generally agreed upon by most historians are the order of their occurrence.

Creation

  • Driomi, who predates time, created Zedromi, his realm to rule from, and the Shesethos as his servants within it.
  • Driomi creates Ethesh, and all life within it.
    • Most important of all was the creation of Man on the world of Jevreth. Men were placed on the continent of Althas in the forest of Vossôthos.
    • Man was given the “Celestial language” to communicate with one another, the heavenly tongue that the Shesethos have always used. This tongue has no written form.
    • Man was immortal and, in time, built a realm there.
    • Man was limited in their freedom significantly, with little understanding, but in them were the seeds of free will. As they were instructed, that free will expressed itself more and more.

The Zedromi War and Man's Fall

  • While the realm of Men grew, and as their free will became evident, The Zedromi War raged within Driomi's realm. [1]
    • Those that rebelled against Driomi were cast out. The fallen Shesethos became known as the Drevril.
  • The Drevril, as has always been, plot to corrupt and destroy Driomi’s creation, starting with Man. They forged the Night Stones, and cast them down to the realm of Men.
    • The Dominion Stone tempted Man to distrust Driomi and looked to its power to grow their realm and increase in prosperity. Eventually, many elders believed and began using the Stone’s power, rejecting Driomi’s guidance. [2]
    • Over time, the people were all deceived and turned in defiance of Driomi.

The Rise of The Dominion

  • Men became mortal now that they are tainted with evil. [3]
  • The realm of Man encompassed eight familiar tribes. One of the tribes (known later to history as "The Eighth Tribe") saw their great potential over the land and beasts, and suggested to the other seven that they commune and organize together in a central location in Vossôthos.
    • The Eighth Tribe divided the other seven tribes into working castes, each tribe tasked with providing different needs to the others, while the Eigth managed them. This foundation of civilization would later become known as The Dominion, ruled over by "The Majestic". [4]
  • As the centuries passed, Man descended into ever greater evil until finally Men began to fear what they had brought on themselves. Many began to doubt The Majestic and their choice to follow the Stone. The Majestic began to oppress the people to keep them in line.
  • Realizing their mistake, many of the people in The Dominion began to seek Driomi again. One Man rose to lead them. Driomi heard this Man; he was appointed the first of the Diasairos, and was given a new name: Losdejim [5]
  • The words of Losdejim spread throughout The Dominion. The Seven rose up against The Majestic and the ruling Eighth Tribe. [6]
    • The Seven overcame The Majestic and The Eighth Tribe. The Night Stone was destroyed and The Majestic was slain.
  • The remnants of the Eighth Tribe fled Vossôthos. [7]
  • With the Night Stone destroyed, Losdejim was looked to as the de facto leader. The Dominion continued into a new age of uncertainty, but the people had mostly acknowledged Driomi again. [8]

Notes

This section contains footnotes for the overall Timeline.

  1. Several of the Shesethos saw the free will in Man as a malfunction and flaw, and rebelled against Driomi.
  2. Man could not possessed or controlled by a Night Stone at this point in time.
  3. Although they were mortal, their life spans were still of extraordinary length; no one noticed their mortality yet.
  4. "The Majestic" was the only known ruling figurehead of The Dominion. It is unknown if he ever went by another title.
  5. The meaning of Losdejim's name remained hidden. It was revealed when Noralar is created twenty years later, a sign of Driomi’s providence and sovereignty.
  6. The majority of the eighth division, however, stayed on the side of The Majestic.
  7. The survivors will divide into three groups:
      • One group migrates to the East and settles near Thalomvob. This group will hide in fear at first, but later repent of their sins and sue for peace with Gorandel (once the kingdom has been built and has expanded east to include Thalomvob). These people become known as the Thalom Sebairos.
      • The second group will vow to fight on against Driomi. They scatter into the lands of Althas and settle in small towns and villages. They later conceal who they are when the The Anointed will later expand their realms. Others in this group will infiltrate and cause general problems for the Anointed in their early years.
      • The third group will split off from the second a couple generations later. They will repent for their misdeeds and, as penance for their forbearers’ sins, will vow to fight for the Diasairos and help them fulfill their purposes. This group will become zealots that hold no allegiance towards any one faction, but only to the Diasairos themselves. Over time, they will spawn an order of zealots that include any who would seek penance for their past. Their numbers and validity shall be in flux throughout the millennia, but they will be an ever-present group (to some extent).
  1. By the end of this period, people began to realize their vulnerability to the passage of time, as more and more grow older and weaker.

Before recorded time

This period came before Man had numbered his days, so no dates in this period are certain. What is generally agreed upon by most historians are the order of their occurrence.

Creation

  • Mellendil, who predates time, created Zidromi, his realm to rule from, and the Shesethos as his servants within it.
  • Mellendil creates Ethesh, and all life within it.
    • Most important of all was the creation of Man on the world of Jevreth. Men were placed on the continent of Althas in the forest of Vossôthos.
    • Man was immortal and, in time, built a realm there.
  • Man was given the “Celestial language” to communicate with one another, the heavenly tongue that the Shesethos have always used. This tongue has no written form.

The Zidromi War and Man's Fall

  • While the realm of Men grew, The Zidromi War raged within Mellendil's realm, fought between those that wised to serve Mellendil, and those that did not. Those that rebelled against Mellendil were cast out.
    • The fallen Shesethos became known as the Drevril.
  • The Drevril, as has always been, plot to corrupt and destroy Mellendil’s creation, starting with Man. They forged the Night Stones, and cast them down to the realm of Men.
    • The Dominion Stone tempted Man to distrust Mellendil and looked to its power to grow their realm and increase in prosperity. Eventually, many elders believed and began using the Stone’s power, rejecting Mellendil’s guidance. [1]
    • Over time, the people were all deceived and turned in defiance of Mellendil.

The Rise of The Dominion

  • Men became mortal now that they are tainted with evil. [2]
  • The realm of Man encompassed eight familiar tribes. One of the tribes (known later to history as "The Eighth Tribe") saw their great potential over the land and beasts, and suggested to the other seven that they commune and organize together in a central location in Vossôthos.
