The Night Stones are devices created by the Drevril with the primary purpose of bringing chaos to Jevreth and corrupting Men.

Creation

It is currently unknown how, or when, the Night Stones were created. The first Night Stone was cast down to Althas before the recording of time.

Composition

The Night Stones that have been discovered are made of various gem-like materials (ones that are alien to Althas and Dritameshi).

Avatar

Every Night Stone contains a single Avatar. The avatar is an "artificial intelligence" that is created with varying goals and levels of aptitude between them.

Some are fairly simple in their role and possess little intelligence (such as the Nomshethairos Stones), while others can be as complex to the point of communicating and corrupting mankind (such as the Thrandole's Stone).

The Dominion Stone

(named after the kingdom that the Stone influenced the creation of)

The avatar of this stone is a master of deception. Envious of Man, it seeks to destroy Men through their own Pride in themselves. N/A, the stone was destroyed.

The Nomshethairos Stones

(named after the Nomshethairos they create)

No avatar exists within these stones. It only seeks to corrupt nature around them. These stones have little effect on Man, but does on the beasts of Nature. Some are destroyed, but some continue to pop up every once in awhile.

Thrandole's Stone, sometimes known as the Calling Stone

(named after King Thrandole; named after the fact that it calls Nomshethairos created by the previous set of Night Stones)

Calls beasts to it, and heightens the user's ability to lead, but drives a Man's desire for power in the process. Location unknown.
  • ...
  • 402 MA: After The War of Men and Beasts, all of the Night Stones are destroyed. Thrandole of Narthendar keeps one for himself.
  • 420-435 MA: Along the ridge of Voshellas, a new capital is built: Thovairozil, and the halls of Zalothairar (“Halls of Terror”)
  • 445 MA: King Thrandole, under the sway of the Stone, enslaves his people and launches a sudden attack on his fellow Anointed kingdoms. Thus begins the Second War.
  • 465 MA: After Thrandole's, this Night Stone is lost and never heard from again.
Basech Stone

(Basech means "Dark" in Noralar)

The avatar of this stone is a master of deception. Prideful, it seeks the worship of itself. One of the Esheliros Basech.
  • 406 MA: The Stone asks the people of Sheavob to worship it in exchange for secret knowledge of what others are thinking. It feeds them lies about their surrounding villages. They eventually attacked Leavrall, destroying it and it's peoples. The Stone forewarns them of the King Andorain's approach and instructs the Sheavob people to take it with them to the Esheliros Basech.
Shûvrall Stone

(Shûvrall means "Sunrise" in Noralar, based on the name where it was found, the Esheliros Shûvrall)

The avatar is nothing but lies: it will promise its bearer all their desires, but will fulfill none of them. The greater the desires of the bearer, the greater the potential for self-harm to him/herself. N/A, the stone was destroyed.
  • 852-870 MA: Three ship fleets (Gorandel, Vishethas, and North Narthendar) are searching for Night Stones in the Esheliros Shûvrall.
    • This Night Stone is discovered to be hidden inside a deep cavern. It is in the hands of a Helrúna that lives on one of the islands. The forces subdue the beast and take the stone. It is placed on a Gorandel ship to be transported back to Gorandel to be destroyed.
    • The ship carrying the Stone is raided by a raider vessel hired by Lord Bregdan. The Stone is brought to the Lord who then sails for Narthendar with the stone.
    • Lord Bregdan goes mad brooding over the Stone’s power. His use of the Stone causes a storm to emerge that sends his ship off course along the northern coast of Narthendar and sinks somewhere in the northern sea.
  • 871-901 MA: Within this time, the stone washes up on the small island chain north of Narthendar. A tribe of former northern Narthendi who live there find and worship the stone.
  • 902-903 MA: Bregdan's son, Staelan, discovers Bregdan's Stone to have washed up on the small island chain north of Narthendar. He kills the tribes who have it and take the stone back with him to North Narthendar.
  • 932 MA: After Wealcan's death, his son Folgere learns of the Stone’s location.
    • He retrieves the stone and uses it to enslave the jevrethor that he holds in North Narthendar.
  • 939 MA, Midsummer: The King of Gorandel joins Heofon's volunteers so that he can destroy the Night Stone as soon as it is secured.
    • After the The King of Gorandel's and Heofon's Forces attack on Aernclyf
    • Folgere recalls his jevrethor nearest to the fortress using the Stone, but they arrive too late.
    • Folgere is subdued and his Night Stone destroyed, releasing the jevrethor from his control.
Téafor Stone

(named after Téafor)

The avatar of this stone enhances the abilities of it's user. Lambitelor capital island, near Lambitelor capital city.
  • 1039 MA, Winter: Téafor discovers the Night Stone#Teafor Stone in the Lambitelor capital island. He uses it to attack the island.
    • Téafor's power are augmented by the stone, allowing him to set fire to the fields surrounding Lambitelor capital city, causing massive destruction to the southern half of the city and kills everyone in his path (including the few najiros protecting the capital).
