Heofon is a well-known naji in Althas's history.

Heofon means "sky, heaven" in Old Maelan.

History

The War with Lambitelor

In late fall of 936 MA, Heofon, a member of The Vanguard, leads a small company of najiros from The Vanguard to the Esheliros Bavem in the War with Lambitelor. For two years he watches the stalemate in Lambitelor between the [capital city]] defenders and the Anorthile Expeditionary Force. Fearing that the Expeditionary force will lose too many ships to return in a single trip should they need to retreat, Heofon decides that they must subdue the city now:

• Heofon plans to lead the Vanguard force that he has with him to free the jevrethor held captive in terrible conditions in a fortress outside the capital city.
• They will convince these jevrethor to fight with them against the Lambitelor armies.

The plan goes accordingly: Heofon and The Vanguard launch the attack and free the jevrethor, who gladly agree to fight alongside them. Although Anorthile's Expeditionary Force makes a tactical retreat, Lambitelor and the capital city are left in a battered state. For his cunning, Heofon is hailed as a hero in Anorthile.

The Whitecrown Insurrection

In midsummer of 939 MA, Heofon volunteers to lead a group of najiros (a few of whom are jevrethor of the Vanguard) to circumvent North Narthendar's Lord Folgere's forces and take him out. Heofon’s force sail in a single ship and land in a small ford in northern Lamniemalos. They follow the path that they were told of and launch a surprise attack on Aernclyf. Folgere and his forces are subdued: The Diasair-vil is freed Folgere's Night Stone is destroyed, which releases the jevrethor from his control. The jevrethor turn on Folgere, killing him, and destroy Aernclyf. Heofon and his remaining forces flee the destruction of the stronghold and join up with the forces of the Anointed in southern Lamniemalos, preparing to defend the heartland of Lamniemalos and its capital. Heofon makes a stand north of the capital and leads the Vanguard forces against the jevrethor. He personally slays the greatest of the jevrethor, but loses his own life in the process. By the power of Driomi, The Diasair-vil raises Heofon the dead and anoints him in becoming the next Chosen.

From this point forward, Heofon becomes largely considered as the greatest najiros who ever lived.

Master of The Vanguard

In 961 MA, Heofon receives the title of Master amongst The Vanguard. Far more so than previous Masters, he becomes well known for consulting with The Guardians. In 995 MA, Heofon rejects the Najecre Accord as per the advisement of The Guardians. However, The Vanguard Council overrule him with a unanimous vote and accept the deal.

Physical Description

After Heofon's resurrection at the end of the Whitecrown Insurrection, his physcial and magical traits change: His hair is white, his eyes golden like a jevrethor’s, and he has gained great longevity (he will live for 133 more years). Heofon also gains a jevrethor-like knowledge: an instinctive ability with magic as well as a great enhancement to his own power (by nature of his Chosen status).
