Lore:Astýran Bealdor

Astýran Bealdor is the first, and founding, King of Thenodar, previously Lord and Captain of Vaseb. At the time of the Sundered Order period, he is 39 years old.

Astýran means "to guide, control" and Bealdor means "hero, prince" in Old Maelan, Bealdor having been a title given to Astýran after slaying a Helrúna and becoming King of Thenodar.

History

Early Life

Born in the vassal state of Vaseb ... [WIP]

Astýran eventually became a Captain in Vaseb's army. It is here that he became close friends with seven warriors in his battalion.

Captain Astýran, Helrúna Slayer

In 336 RK, a Helrúna came out from the depths of the Ísbrim and attacked the city of Muthrand. After laying waste to the port city, the people of Vaseb feared that the creature may turn it's attention to them next. They sent quick word to Anorthile, hoping that would send aid to defend the city, but no help came.

Just as the people feared, in 337 RK, the Nomshethair did turn it's attention towards their city. The Helrúna made it's way across the Thenodar river and began it's attack on the city. It was upon this first attack that the Lord of Vaseb was killed. After the first attack, many had already fled in fear, except for Astýran and his seven other warrior companions, who stayed to fight the Helrúna. Although the beast was eventually slain, all of Astýran's companions fell in the battle.

After learning of Astýran's victory over the Helrúna, Astýran was given the position of Lord of Vaseb.

Astýran, in his distraught, also took it upon himself to adopt Glisian that same year, the daughter of one of his companions.

Lord Astýran, Rebel Leader

By 339 RK, King Falos II feared the signs of rebellion taking place in Vaseb (due in large part to Anorthile sending no aid to them before). After failed diplomacy, in a very controversial move, Falos II sent Anorthile forces in order to quell the people.

This lead to Astýran's call to arms to the people of Vaseb, taking it upon himself to lead in the battle for independence.

In 339 RK, The Battle of Hréctan (or The Battle of El Vrathi to the Anorthile people) occurred. The siege on Hréctan, lead by Astýran, was a success, and the remaining Anorthile forces in the Narthendar region fled.

After the siege's success, the people of Vaseb called for Astýran's crowning as King. He accepted the newly-fashioned crown and was given the honorary title of Bealdor. Astýran had the city renamed to Thenodar, in respect to Thenoran (the city's previous independent leader).
